The Concept of Jihad
Since Islam was a militant faith from the beginning, it was natural for Muhammad to teach the doctrine of jihad.
The word means “struggle”; while it is often used in a spiritual sense to apply to the inner struggle of every believer, it also means a “holy war” in defense of the Islamic faith.
